Nishihara, Kazuyo

西原　和代

Kazuyo is doing her research as a visiting scholar at the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, and at Center for Japanese Studies, University of Califrornia, Berkeley. She is also a Ph.D. candidate in Archaeology at Kyoto University (2022-).
Since 2011, she has conducted archaeological research in China, Cambodia, and Japan, mainly focusing on environmental archaeology, especially the human-plant interaction in prehistoric East Asia. She is working on her dissertation project on Jomon basketry and land management in Neolithic Japan.

　2024年より奈良文化財研究所客員研究員、2025年よりカリフォルニア大学バークレー校日本研究センターにて訪問研究員。
　2011年より日本および中国、カンボジア等で考古学調査に参加。各種報告書執筆の他、環境考古学、とくに植物と人の関係に興味をもち研究をすすめている。縄文時代のかご製作を中心に、人間がいかに環境を改変し、また環境の変化に適応してきたかを研究している。
